Case Study - "Operation could not be completed. Access is denied"

Situation: The client has a laptop using at home and office. The laptop doesn't join the domain. Instead he logon local computer using the domain username and password. He can access most resources in the network. One day, he can't print a networking printer which he uses everyday.

Troubleshooting: 1. In the status of the Printer Manager, it shows Access denied.

2. If you double-click on the printer, it displays "Operation could not be completed. Access is denied.

3. If you use net view command to check the permission status, you will receive "System error 5 has occurred."

Resolution: It is clear that the user losses the cached credentials. You may want to use net command to restore the cached credentials.
