Case Study – One Cisco Switch doesn’t talk to other

Situation: To troubleshoot a network issue, we reset one Cisco 3500 switch which is connecting to another Switch 3700. After it turns on, the 3500 switch doesn’t talk to the LAN. The port connecting switch 3700 is orange (the port in switch 3700 is green).

Troubleshooting: show run command displays “Interface fastethernet0/24hernet0/15 Chan speed 100, spanning-free portfast06: %link-3-updown: int”

Resolution: In the configure mode, type these commands.

Interface F0/24

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

no spanning-tree portfast

exit

wr mem
