Case Study - No more than 2 connections event you have installed the 10 TS CALs

Situation: The client followed the How to Install and Configure TS Licensing to install 25 Terminal Services CALs on a Windows Server 2003.

Problem: When testing the TS connections, the third logon received "The terminal server has exceeded the maximum number of allowed connections" message.

Troubleshooting: 1. They did install Terminal Services and Terminal services Licensing.

2. They have 25 CALs.

3. We found that the Terminal Services mode was Remote  Desktop  for Administration (See picture). (Note: when installing Terminal Services and Terminal Services Licensing at the same time or when installing Terminal Services, the TS licensing server can't be detected, Terminal Services mode will keep Remote  Desktop  for Administration.

Resolution: Remove the Terminal Services and re-install it and make sure the TS can see the TS licensing server.
