For example, you may want to access resources in an untrusted domain, resources with alternative credentials, a Web site with a password and a Web site with a certificate that require a different credentials.

Resolutions: To add or modify these credentials, go to Control Panel>User Account. For Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional in a workgroup, select the logged-on user account in the User Accounts tool. For Windows XP Professional in a domain,  click Manage Passwords under the Advanced tab in the User Accounts tool.

Symptom: If you use the Map Network Drive Wizard to connect to a network share by using different user credentials and you use the browse functionality to locate the network share, you may receive the following error message: The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password. To connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network share.

3) You have used Reconnect at logon with different password..

Resolutions: 1) Run GPEDIT.MSC. Under computer configuration, expand administrative templates>system>logon. Select the "Always wait for the network at computer startup" value. The default state is "not configured". Set this to "On".
2) If 1) doesn't work, try this. Make sure you logoff from all computers if you logon more than one computer using the same username. Changing the password by using Ctrl+Alt+Del. Then logon.
3) Or try this. Use "net use * /d" command to delete all mapping drives. Then use "net use \\servername password /u:domainname\username" to cache the credentials. Relogon.
4) If you are using the VPN, make sure VPN client's password matches the domain user's password.
