How to move the specific user from one database to another database in Exchange 2010 - Step by step with screenshots 

 

Situation: The client is running Exchange 2010 and have two databases, one is for regular users and another one is for senior managers.  One user has been promoted to a senior manager and needs to move to senior database.

 

1. Open EMC.
2. In the console tree, navigate to Recipient Configuration > Mailbox.
3. In the result pane, select the specific mailbox that you want to move.
4. In the action pane, click New Local Move Request.
5. On the Introduction page, click "Browse…" to select "Target mailbox database:".
5. Select the senior mailbox database and click OK to return to the wizard.

Note: If the mailbox has an archive associated with it, the following options are displayed:

Move only the user mailbox Click this button if you want to move only the user's primary mailbox to the new database. This is selected by default.
Move only the archive mailbox Click this button if you want to move only the user's archive mailbox to the new database.
Move both the mailbox and the archive Click this button if you want to move both the user's primary mailbox and the associated archive mailbox to the new database.

6.On the Move Settings page, you can choose either "Skip the mailbox" or "Skip the corrupted messages" to custom the maximum number of messages to skip. Click Next.
7. On the New Local Move Request page, click New to create the move request.
