How to Update Database Copy in Exchange 2010
Updating Database Copy is the process in seeding a copy of
a mailbox database from one Exchange server to another Exchange server. In
the following cases, you may need to use Seeding Database Copy. 1. To build a redundant database copy after a new passive copy of a database is created. 2. After a failover occurs in which data is lost as a
result of the passive database copy having become diverged and
unrecoverable.
To use the EMC to seed a mailbox database copy, please
follow these stpes: 2. Navigate to Organization Configuration > Mailbox. 4. On the Database Copies
tab, right-click the database copy you want to update, and then select
Suspend Database Copy.
5. After you suspended the Database Copy, right-click the database copy you want to update again and select Update Database Copy.
6. On the Update Database Copy page, configure the available options for updating a database copy: By default, the active copy of the database is used as the source database
for seeding. If you prefer to use a passive copy of the database for
seeding, check the Select a source server for seeding checkbox, and then
click Browse to select the server containing the passive copy you want to
use for the source.
Note: if you receive this warning, click Yes to all to
continue.
7. When it completes, the Summary states whether the operation was successful. Click Finish to exit the wizard.
You can also use the Shell to update a mailbox database copy. Here is the example command for our case.
Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity Exec Database
1\Exch-mail02 -SourceServer 'Exch-mail01' -DeleteExistingFiles.
