How To Test SMTP Services
using telnet
1. Run command prompt.
2. Type Telnet and then press ENTER.
3. At the telnet prompt, type open <SMTPServerDNSName> 25, and then press
ENTER.
4. Type helo me, and then press ENTER.
5. Type mail from:username@SMTPServerDNSName, and then press ENTER.
6. Type rcpt to:receiptnamel@ReceiptDNSName, and then press ENTER.
7. Type Data, and then press ENTER.
8. Type Subject:This is a test, and then press ENTER two times.
9. Type Testing, and then press ENTER.
10. Press ENTER, type a period (.), and then press ENTER.
11. Type quit, and then press ENTER.
Here is example result:
