Can ping Ip and map
UNC but can't ping computer Can ping IP and map UNC but can't ping computer If you can ping ip and make the shared folders using UNC but not ping computer, it is possible the master browser issue. 1) Check any errors in Event Viewer. 2) disable other master browser if you have more than one master browser. (Note: in a small workgroup, you only need one Master Browser.) This is name resolution issue if you can ping IP but not computer name The ping command uses Windows Sockets-style name resolution to resolve a computer name to an IP address, so if pinging by address succeeds, but pinging by name fails, then the problem lies in address or name resolution, not network connectivity.
