Benefits of Windows Hyper-V 1.
Hyper-V offers a number of mitigations to reduce the downtime and
inconvenience caused by hardware failure. Fore example, you can use VSS with
other backup technologies to take snapshots and save the data in secure
remote locations. In case the host server fails, you can quickly re-create
the virtual machines on another server by using these snapshots and restore
services with minimal downtime. 2.
Hyper-V provides quick migration
that combines the features of Hyper-V and failover clustering to ensure
optimum utilization of resources and provide high availability of services.
Quick migration helps you to rapidly move a running virtual machine from one
physical server to another. For example, you can save the .vmc files and all
the .vhd files of a virtual machine on external devices such as storage area
network (SAN).
3. You can use Hyper-V to consolidate multiple servers on a single system.
This helps you enhance the resource utilization, provide flexibility, reduce
costs, and simplify the management of your network. 4.
Hyper-V can use the Failover Clustering feature of Windows Server 2008 to
provide high availability of the virtual machines and servers. Clustering
can be implemented at the parent or child partition levels. 5.
Hyper-V can also utilize the health monitoring feature in System Center
Operations Manager (SCOM). This helps administrators view and monitor the
states of local and remote servers in real time. 6.
Hyper-V provides data centers with the flexibility to respond to change and
control business processes efficiently by adjusting virtual machines as
required. 7.
Hyper-V helps create virtual test environments that provide maximum
utilization of the available test hardware and software. Post your questions, comments, feedbacks and suggestions Related Topics
