After installing XP SP2, computers in network A can access XP computers in the network A but not B, and computers in network B can access XP computers in the network B but not A. Cause: by default, the Exceptions of SP2 ICF allow File and Printer Sharing within the LAN only. Can't access VPN after installing XP SP2 Cause: the ICF block the VPN traffic. Can't ping XP Computer with SP2 By default, SP blocks ping from other computers. To enable it, open Windows Firewall. Select Advanced and click Settings on ICMP. Check the Allow incoming echo request. In Windows XP SP2, there are many changes for Windows Firewall, including the following:

XP SP2 enables firewall by default To help protect XP computer against viruses or security threats, XP SP2 enables firewall by default. If you experience some issues after installing XP SP2, you may want to adjust firewall settings.
